A Golden Hour Family Photo Session in Missoula Montana
There's something so special about golden hour family sessions in Montana. The light stays out longer, the river flows nearby, and time just feels like it slows down. During this session, we shot in a location with mountain views, lush tall grass, and walking trails. We took some time in between poses to let their little boy run about and get comfortable with his surroundings. These in-between moments often make for some of the best candid shots when you have kids!
Before a family session with littles, I often like to remind parents that the goal is not to be still and posed throughout the entire session, but instead to lean into a pose. If the pose takes you elsewhere, for example, tickles, needing to pick up your child, or rubbing dirt from their tiny hands—do that! There's so much beauty to capture in those small, interactive moments.
I will work around you and your family during our session so that it doesn't feel like an hour of forced, stiff posing, but rather an hour of quality time and a fun memory for you and your family.
The images from Trisha's family session are some of my favorite because of the emotion they hold. They feel like a dreamy summer evening spent on a walk, just being together.
